No. The direct Windows edition is a one-time purchase with a perpetual license for the version you buy. You can activate it on up to three personal devices. Future updates are not guaranteed indefinitely; see the software license for the full terms.
Do I need Steam or a Scriptorum account?
Neither is required for the direct edition. Buy through this website, download the Windows installer, and activate with the key sent to your checkout email. Steam remains an optional, separate purchase route.
When do I need an internet connection?
For purchase, initial activation, and downloading updates. After activation, everyday planning, writing, searching, and exporting work offline. Your manuscripts remain local.
Can I bring an existing manuscript?
Yes. Import DOCX, RTF, Markdown, plain text, or HTML into a new chapter, or replace a chapter after a safety snapshot is saved. Supported formatting is preserved; unsupported layouts are normalized.
What happens after I buy?
Checkout is handled by Stripe/Link for Mayfly Creative Studios LLC. Your license key and installer link arrive by email. Install on a 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 computer and activate online. Check spam and contact [email protected] if the purchase email is missing.
Can I write in languages other than English?
Yes. Your writing is independent of the interface language. The interface and guided tutorial support English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, and Korean.
How do refunds work?
Stripe Managed Payments handles direct-purchase refunds and transaction support. Use the transaction-support route on your receipt, or contact [email protected] for help finding it. Steam purchases follow Steam's own process. See the purchase terms for details.
